Shaking it down

As if I possessed these kind of etch-a-skills!!!

A big part of having a brain like mine is the philosophical moments that are blunted by my intellect. As a shining example of a Rainy wisdom-nugget I give you my latest brain fart - Etch-A Sketch life. In the same vein as the box of chocolates thing we've all heard, it is my simile for life. Coincidentally, both of the statements are from people of reduced intellect!

Life can be like an etch-a-sketch. You fiddle and fart around with the controls trying to make beauty and end up with a jumbled mess wondering where it all went wrong. Sometimes you look at the results of your actions and other times and feel the need to run to someone and show them, beaming with pride at your achievement. Other times you are left with a smudgy mess that looks like a drug trip gone horribly wrong. It's funny how our lives travel a similar path. We do what we think we need to do and stand back at the end of the day looking at the results. Did it turn out pretty much as we expected or did it take some unexpected turns? Are you looking to brag or would you rather give it all a good shake?

The funny part is that our lives parallel another aspect of these wacky drawing devices in another way. No matter how much we shake it around, there is always the ghost of past drawings lurking on that ethereal green/grey screen. Have you seen an old etch-a-sketch? They have the battle worn screen that comes with well loved use. Lines float in the haze trying to draw out the old images, fighting to hang on to their existence. No matter how much you try to change what you have done in the past, your choices will always leave a trace on you. I'm always amazed at people who ask "Why me?". I am a firm believer in the simple fact that our life is firmly directed and shaped by the choices we make. We get what we give and if we don't put in some good once in a while it will all go horribly wrong at some point. If you believe in Karma then you have an idea what I'm on about.

Everyone's lives have tragedy and misfortune in them. It's not a matter of if something goes wrong or not, but rather how we deal with it that defines us. Do you run and scurry like chicken little or do you simply take what life gives you and work with it? The right path is yours to chooses and isn't the one that works for some as we are all naturally pessimistic or optimistic by nature. Some will dwell on the bad things in our lives and others will look tot eh positive within the situation. If you have a heart attack do you lament for your ailing health, or do you rejoice at the fact that you live to complain about your ailing health and enjoy life to the fullest?

This disjointed rambling came from nowhere in particular but is the result of having to live with this brain. Be happy though.......you can close this window and scramble for sanity, whereas I have to live with this defective lump of meat until I die. Being a positive person though. I enjoy the entertainment it provides. This shattered thing is better than cable!!

So take care when your fiddling with your knobs and remember to give your life a good shake once in a while to smooth things out. Peace out folks (don't ask me what this means, but the kids at work like to say it)!

Speaking of good or bad congratulations go out to my brother and his wife for making me an Auntie! Their new little girl was born this morning weighing in at 8lbs and 14oz. Time will tell if it goes to the dark side like its daddy or to the light like its mommy. The struggle will be entertaining.

Karma likes to play tricks on me. I found that the more I took care of my car, the more times I got rear-ended (4 times in one month!) so I actually decided to stop taking care of my car. I stopped washing it, stopped fixing little things on it, etc. I have not been hit since.

Congrats on your sex-change!

Too bad he didn't make you an uncle by havin' a boy. Oh wel, I'm sure you'll make a great aunt anyhow.
I like that lump of meat you got rolling around in your melon.
I tried this Etch-A-Sketch theory but all I got out of it was shaken baby syndrome. Who knew at this age I could get that?!
Whatever is in that meat patty of yours I hope it all figures itself out in the end.
Have a great weekend!
