Soup's on!!
Warning folks, it's time for a little blog floggin'
I'm all about helping people. There a zillion charities out there and people get overwhelmed by requests. I used to be one of those people too, but I learned a while ago to pick the ones you can help and would liek to help and do what you can for them. That's it that's all. If you're helping them as best you can it's foolish to feel guilty about not helping more. They want your help but they don't want to bankrupt you.....unless they're one of the massive ones with huge offices and lots of employees.
One of my favourite ones to help is Habitat for Humanity. Not only do I like what they do but the fact that those that receive a home form the program help to make the others is just terrific. Unfortunately for Habitat though, these houses require cash to build as well as the countless volunteer hours that go with it. This is where the fundraising kicks in. The Hamilton Firefighters are amazing at supporting all manner of charities and on Wednesday night they are putting on a cool event. It's called Fill Your Bowl for Habitat. If you're in the Hamilton area and looking for something to do that night this would be a good idea.
Not only do you get a cool bowl to take home but you get to try all sorts of funky soups to go in it. If that isn't enough you also get to check out all the cool planes and such because it is being put on at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum The doors open at 6:30pm and they've raffles and all sorts of other cool stuff. I should have a pile of pictures from the event so you know there'll be another post on this once it's all done. All the details can be found here. And ladies, they still have their calendar full of semi clad firefighters for sale if you need some wall decorations.
