Temporarily out of order
I's summer time and for many Canadians, vacation time. Here in the Rain household it is also time for the same. Vacation time for many of us Canuckleheads, including ourselves, means trying to condense the things you own to the most "critical" items required for sustaining life. Cramming all the designated stuff, the family and the beer into a vehicle of your choosing and then cursing as you try to make it fit in the most insane game of Tetris that you have played. Upon completion you then go pay far too much for gas that has magically shot up in price for the weekend and then burn that tank and at least one more in an effort to get away from it all. Coincidentally you and everybody else in your neighborhood and, in fact, surrounding cities have also had this magical idea so you spend at least 2 more hours than you should have to to get to your destination.
Why do we put ourselves through this meat grinder of insanity? Simple. Peace and quiet. Not during the quest mind you, but at the campground you can live in a tent and enjoy the peace of the woods and the scenery. Sure there is noise of a diferent flavour, that of animals and children playing (sometime undiscernable from each other).
I'll see you all next week unless I get attacked by a bear or something. Sure my dog may save me like this one did, but I'm not optimistic with my dog's ability to paralyze a predator with fear. Although it may sop them in it's tracks with laughter.
Until next wekk.

Have a wonderful time and know that I'm jealous!
Have a great vacation!
have fun!
We're just about off to visit various family members. Enjoy yours.
You know what's funny? When half the city's population picks up and leaves for the cottage, or camping, which leaves the city all peaceful and quiet. Which means I don't have to go anywhere!
that's why we never camp on the holidays...
oh, and pete....don't put sugar water on your toes...
Vacation? What's a vacation???
Hope you have a good time...have fun for me, will ya? :)
Well, have fun and always remember, bears can track a man by his farts from 10 miles away. So no farting until you get back.
are we having fun yet?
Have a good one! Come back soon!
Aw, Pete, ya gotta have more faith in your trusty pup. LOL!
Have fun. I miss vacations. We haven't had one since the man of the house started his own business.
have a great vacation...they're just over too fast and it does make one wonder why we put ourselves thru it. We need a vacation from our vacation I say. All that packing/unpacking and loading/unloading and planning and driving....it takes a week to recover just from all that!
